Wind in the sails for Framework: the Laptop 16 and the cheapest model ever arrive
If you are passionate about laptops, Framework is definitely one of those companies to keep an eye on. After the excellent Laptops 13, which, months after our review, convinces us more and more, shipments of the even more ambitious Laptop 16 have now started, an ultra-customizable and modular laptop, in which you can even change the video card (almost) on the fly. We’ll review it as soon as possible, but if you’re keen to get your hands on it you can order it from the company’s website. But the most interesting news is perhaps something else.
Framework has in fact announced its cheapest laptop: it is the “Factory Seconds Framework Laptop 13 DIY Edition” with processor Intel Core i7-1165G7, priced at just $499. It’s a system new which uses some excess partswhich instead of being scrapped are combined with new parts, subjected to normal factory tests, and sold at a significantly reduced price.
The bad news is that these “factory seconds”, as well as versions reconditionedat the moment they are only sold in the USA and Canada, but we are counting on Framework’s desire for global expansion so that they also come to us in the near future.
After all, the company only expanded to our market this summer, so it’s only a matter of time.
