A staple of other messaging services will arrive on Google Messages

Google Messages is preparing to take another step in the direction of the most complete messaging apps of the moment. In the last few hours, details have emerged regarding the arrival of one relevant functionality.

We’re talking about the possibility of edit sent messages chatting. It is therefore not a revolution, if we look at other messaging apps. Platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram have allowed the modification of sent messages for some time now, but it is certainly a important step for the Google app.

As you can see from them screenshot in the gallery, coming from the user AssembleDebug who managed to enable the functionality, the modification of messages can be done via the prolonged pressure on the message and the subsequent selection of the editing tool. At the end of the modification, which can be carried out via a text box at the bottom of the interface, just tap the tick icon to confirm the change.

It seems that the message editing functionality on Google Messages will be possible exclusively for all those messages sent no later than 30 minutes before.

The functionality is obviously under development. His references were found in version 20240213_01_RC00 of the Messages app. It appears that Google’s servers will store the original and modified messages. It could also happen, especially in the first period after the release, that users who have a version of the app that does not yet support this functionality will see both versions of the message.

We don’t know when The functionality for editing messages will actually arrive in the Google Messages app. Its development seems almost finalized, so we can expect a release soon, at least for those who have it beta.
