The topic of RCS messaging (here we describe what RCS messages are and how to enable them) has been very hot for months. This because Google keep pushing Apple to adopt the messaging standard, in favor of security and interoperability.
RCS messages have been supported by Google’s Messages app for quite some time now. The Apple counterpart instead relies on iMessages, a solution that provides all current security standards as long as the communication takes place between iPhones. Otherwise you have to resort to the old and insecure SMS.
Someone outside of the big names has also tried to bring messaging between Apple and Android to the present day, we are talking about Beeper Mini which however had to give up in the face of Apple’s response which effectively blocked the app. Fortunately, in recent times there have been signs of openness from Apple towards the RCS protocol, even if no concrete action has yet arrived.
But Google continues on its path, and it seems that it is even going to widen the RCS support also to more numbers on the same device. This is what emerges from one of the latest versions of Messaggi, in whose code references have been found that indicate the future multi SIM support to RCS messages.
This feature will be especially useful to those who own a dual SIM device and they intend to use RCS messages for both numbers. The screenshot which you find below show what the functionality of the Messages app will look like to support RCS on all the numbers registered on the phone.
The screenshots you see depict a feature that it is not available yet for users, since it is still under development and therefore disabled. There is certainly a new step forward for RCS on the Android front on the horizon, hoping that Apple will quickly adapt too.
