Honda announces upgrade to wireless CarPlay, but it’s not free

Having a infotainment systemwhether it is Android Auto or CarPlay, wireless it is the dream of many. Not having the need for a cable to connect your phone to your car is certainly a great convenience. Honda is bringing this news to some of its customers.

The car manufacturer has indeed announced a new update for his Accord models products between 2018 and 2022. The update includes, among other things, support for Wireless CarPlay.

Honda has in fact reported that all those who are residents of the USA and have an Accord will be able to make an appointment at the dealership to install this new update. This is not free: the automaker requires $112 for the upgrade, plus an unspecified amount for the labor. We expect that this second amount may vary depending on the dealership you choose.

Clearly the update just announced by Honda it’s not mandatoryand therefore its customers will be free not to do so.

It is estimated that currently in the United States there are approximately 630,000 models Accord compatible with this update, it will be interesting to see how much they will opt to pay and install it.

Honda he made no reference to the extension of this update to his other models in other geographic regions, such as Europe. We’ll see if he will propose the same approach in our area in the future. You you would be willing to pay such figures to have wireless Android Auto or CarPlay?
