Meet brings Companion Mode to Android and iOS: what you can do with it
Google introduces an interesting novelty for Google Meet on Android and iPhone devices. After a few years from its introduction, Google brings the Companion Mode of Meet also on its mobile apps.
BigG has just announced the news regarding the Android apps And iOS of Google Meet, its video conferencing platform. This has seen notable evolutions since the pandemic, and now represents a landmark for millions of users who use it every day, both at work and in teaching.
Companion Mode is designed for those who participate in meetings on Meet via a videoconferencing system, instead of a laptop. It is therefore a particularly suitable solution for those who participate in group meetingsor to those who do not have the possibility to easily use a laptop.
Meet’s Companion Mode features an optimized experience to access all the features of Meet which are usually available on PCs and smartphones.
These are the main ones:
- Check in via camera to identify yourself by name.
- Ability to send reactions via emoji while others are speaking without interrupting them.
- Possibility to raise your hand to ask to speak.
- Ability to activate subtitles.
- Access to chat to exchange group or private messages.
- Function for zooming shared content on the screen.
All these new features therefore also arrive for those who will use the Companion Mode on mobile devices, via apps Google Meet Android and iOS.
The newness we have just described will come distributed in the course of next weeks on Meet’s Android and iOS apps. To receive it you will need to have updated Meet at least to version 229 on Android and to version 225 on iOS, and have updated the Gmail app to at least version 2024.01.28 on Android and to version 6.0.231231 on iOS.
