The future of charging? Tesla reveals it to us with the largest Supercharger in the world
In the United States, Tesla it’s not just one power as a producer of electric carsbut above all for its charging network Superchargers, so widespread and effective as to impose a new socket standard, the NACS (by the way, do you know how the Tesla Supercharger works?).
But the “thirst” for electrons is never satisfied, and after the opening of its stations (or at least of a part) also to the electric vehicles of others brands (a necessary move to access the funds allocated by the Biden administration), Elon Musk’s company must have realized that the stations need to evolve.
So the Supercharger station is being planned in Kern County, California bigger of the world, which according to the building permits discovered by MarcoRP of NewsFeed will be equipped with well 164 columns for charging, of which 16 of type pull-through.
In case you’re wondering, the columns pull-through they are a type of columns whose access is “open” and unclosed (image below, on the right), and which Tesla began introducing last year to accommodate electric vehicles of big dimensions or with a trailer, which make maneuvering more difficult.
This solution remained necessary especially with the arrival of Cybertruck, which given its size, especially if equipped with a trailer, needed easier access.
The new station Superchargers in California it will have some as many as 16which you can see on the right in the project image below, meaning that users with a cart won’t need to unhook it before charging (wasting further time), but they can simply stop and connect to the column.
Furthermore, according to the project, Tesla will build an internal network for the new station consisting of batteries and sheds equipped with solar panels, which should help absorb the request at peak times, and hopefully reduce the cost of charging.
At the moment it is not known when the station will be ready, but it is interesting to note that Tesla is building it in a location not too far from the station Kettleman Citywhich in 2019 with 40 charging stations was the largest Supercharger in the world (currently surpassed by the Grand Canyon State station, with 84 charging stations).
