Twitch: Subscription prices rise again in the US, from $5.99 to $7.99

More price increases for Twitch subscribers in the United States. After the previous increase in July, the purple platform has announced that starting October 1st the cost of the Level 1 subscription in the United States will increase, going from $5.99 to a whopping $7.99 . The company itself revealed this in a post on X, where it essentially states that the price will be increased in over 40 countries.

The Dexterto website said it had already received an email in these hours confirming that the United States is one of the countries involved in the price increase. Below is the text of the email:

Subscriptions are an important way your viewers support your channel. To keep up with rising costs and local currency fluctuations, we’re updating pricing for Tier 1 Subscriptions and Gift Subscriptions on the Twitch iOS and Android mobile apps in over 40 countries.

Starting October 1st, the increased price for new subscriptions will be $7.99 USD in your country. We are notifying your subscribers that starting in October, their subscriptions will renew at the new price starting November 1st.

Here are answers to some common questions about changing your price:

  • Existing mobile subscriptions in most countries will automatically renew at the new price, with no action required from your subscribers.
  • We are not currently changing the price of Tier 2 or Tier 3 subscriptions in any country.
  • You will continue to receive the same share of net revenue on subscriptions and gift subscriptions, so this price increase means you will receive more revenue for each subscription.

At the moment, we do not know which countries are specifically affected by the price increase. Last July, Level 1 subscriptions also increased in Italy , going from 3.99 to 4.99 euros, but there is no official news regarding a further price increase.

This latest increase in the United States still reveals a rather worrying situation since it is a total price increase of 60% in just four months . The good news is that streamers will still receive the same percentage of earnings, so essentially they should earn more on each subscription made by users.

The problem is that this increase could push fewer users to subscribe, effectively penalizing the work of content creators.
