As reported by WABetaInfo , version 2.24.17.24 of the WhatsApp beta for Android includes a new option that allows you to directly block the receipt of messages from unknown accounts .
The switch is located in the privacy settings, under “Advanced”, and is added to the existing ones dedicated to protecting the IP address during calls and the possibility of disabling link previews. To prevent potentially harmless messages from contacts that we simply haven’t added to the address book from being blocked once the protection is enabled, preventive censorship will only be triggered when the messages exceed a certain volume , as specified by the description visible in the screenshot above.
WhatsApp , however, already uses systems that automatically detect suspicious accounts: this new feature is another step towards defending against spam. The new feature is currently under development, and we do not know when Meta intends to expand its distribution, also reaching the stable channel.
