Gemini gives superpowers to Recorder: what is needed for audio summaries

Google it finally seems to have put all its cards on the table for its Pixels equipped with artificial intelligence, the top of the range presented this year. We are obviously talking about the arrival of Gemini on Pixel 8 Pro.

The announcement of Gemini, and the related demonstrations of its operation, certainly attracted a lot of attention. This is something that we have never seen in its entirety in the smartphone landscape before Pixel 8 Pro. And we know that Gemini can broaden its range of action also on audio transcriptions.

Audio transcriptions have been present on Google Pixels for a couple of years now, thanks to the app Google Recorder which proves to be very powerful in processing the textual transcription of what is recorded with the smartphone, even in Italian. And Google Recorder is among the apps that will enjoy the support of Gemini.

In fact, Gemini will be able to make summaries to the audio recording made with Google Recorder. In the last few hours, technical details on its operation on Recorder have been leaked.

In fact, according to what has just transpired, Gemini would require up to 1 GB of data to download to train and make his work operational model of artificial intelligence to work properly on Recorder.

This amount of data would be necessary to make Gemini sturdy enough to propose accurate summaries of the recordings made with Recorder. Another fundamental requirement corresponds to length of registration, which must be beyond a certain threshold otherwise Gemini will not be able to be effective. On the other hand, it also seems like it shouldn’t be too long, otherwise Gemini will similarly return an error message, like the one you see in the image below.

Everything is managed by Android AICore, the platform that Google has developed to manage artificial intelligence on Android. According to the latest information emerging online, the Recorder app will have to be updated to version 4.2.20231031.x to work with Gemini. Provided you have a Pixel 8 Pro of course.
