Google updates Fuchsia, so Nest Hub no longer detects ghosts

Google has accustomed us to important and sudden changes when it comes to its software products, especially those that do not concern Android. Among its most recent products we find Fuchsia.

This is the name of an operating system that initially appeared to be in development to be a desktop alternative, but ultimately ended up animating all smart displays from Google, i.e. those that are marketed under the brand Nest. And now a new one arrives for Google Fuchsia software update.

The update for Google Fuchsia refers to the version in Preview, i.e. one that can be assimilated to a public beta and which allows you to preview the features under development on the various Nest Hubs. The update refers to the build 14.20230831.4.72includes some new features for developers but also others for end users.

Among the most interesting ones we find the resolution of a particular bug which implied the detection of false presences near Nest Hub Max overnight.

Obviously it wasn’t ghosts, even if it inspired us for the title, but a misinterpretation by the smart display sensors. This bug was particularly annoying because he started specific routines when perhaps everyone was still asleep.

In addition to this, there are some additional features for Nest Hub Max and second generation Nest Hub as part of their newly acquired role as hub for Matter. It will then be possible to manage the transition time for smart connected lighting tone controls, new options for managing the subscriptions to services related to connected smart devices and group updates Matter.

Finally, we find improvements for the connection stability Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, as well as some have been improved audio aspects on Nest Hub e small bugs fixed using Bluetooth to listen to music content.

The update we just described is currently during automatic distribution globally, but only for those who have joined the Preview of Fuchsia.

This is the procedure to register:

  1. Open the app Google Home on your smartphone.
  2. Log in to the Nest Hub for which you want to join the Preview.
  3. Touch the icon to access the Settings top right.
  4. Log in to Device information.
