Honor Magic V3 official: the super-thin foldable in Italy

Honor Magic V3 officially debuts on the international market – including Italy – at IFA 2024 underway in Berlin . It is the foldable smartphone of records, considering the thickness of just 9.2mm when closed and 4.35mm when open: this incredible result was possible using 19 innovative materials and 114 microstructures for a body that hides theQualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a third-generation 5,150mAh silicon-carbon battery with 66W charging and 50W wireless charging and five cameras in total, three of which are on the back and one for each of the two internal and external displays.

 

Available in Black, Green and Red colors , the Honor Magic V3 offers a 6.43″ LTPO OLED external display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, a resolution of 2376×1060 and a brightness of up to 5,000nits. The internal OLED display has a diagonal of 7.92″ with a resolution of 2344×2156, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a screen-to-body ratio of 90.5%. Both support the Magic-Pen .

Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 5,150mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless SuperCharge charging . The integrated cameras on the internal and external screen are both 20MP f/2.2, while on the back there are 50MP Sony IMX906 cameras , 50MP periscope telephoto f/3.0 with LiDAR matrix autofocus system, and 40MP ultra wide angle f/2.2. The operating system is MagicOS 8.0.1 based on Android 14.

CARBON SILICON BATTERY

Honor has used a silicon-based material for the anode with a theoretical capacity of 4,200mAh/g2, 10 times higher than graphite. On the foldable phone, it has increased the percentage of silicon in the negative electrode to 10%, resulting in a battery that is just 2.6mm thick . Compared to the Magic V2 , the Magic V3 has a 4.4% thinner battery and 5.74% higher energy density (data from Honor laboratories). Battery performance is improved by the Honor E1 Power Enhanced Chip and a power management system. E1 improves discharge efficiency, optimizes the charging process, and thanks to the integrated algorithm, increases performance in low-temperature conditions. The battery protection chamber is made of carbon fiber.

DISPLAY

AI Defocus Display technology debuts for the first time on a smartphone, using AI algorithms to simulate the effects of multiple segment defocus (DIMS) on the Magic V3 display. In essence, DIMS inhibits the axial elongation of the eye, reducing the development of myopia, the display applies a graphic algorithm that replicates the effect of controlled defocus. Whenever Magic V3 is used for more than 30 minutes, a notification appears in the Magic Capsule , informing users of the time spent on the screen and prompting them to activate the AI ​​Defocus Display.
