News coming to WhatsApp: voice chats will be less invasive

WhatsApp will launch a feature dedicated to voice chats in the next few weeks. In particular, the innovation is intended for groups made up of many users. In fact, the alert mode will change with which users will be informed of the start of a voice conversation.

In particulara push notification will inform you of the existence of a voice chat within a specific discussion (instead of a call). By tapping on this notification, WhatsApp will display a message at the bottom of the application with the “Start voice chat” button. As soon as you start a voice chat, the call controls will become accessible at the top of the WhatsApp screen. However, the possibility for each participant to send a text message instead of a voice message remains unchanged.

Voice chats will be available on both Android and iOS for groups of 33 to 128 people and will only be accessible via the primary device on which the messaging app is installed.

In this regard, we do not exclude the possibility that this tool will also be implemented for groups made up of fewer than 33 users.

Finally, group members who are not part of the voice chat will be able to view the profiles of other users present in the voice chat via the chat header and Calls tab. As for the bottom line, voice chats end automatically as soon as everyone leaves the chat. By the way, they also end if no one joins after the first person or within 60 minutes of the last person joining the chat. To leave the voice chat, however, you will need to press the X icon.
