Nothing is a company that has been present in the smartphone market sector for a couple of years now, with its products that are certainly recognizable for their particular rear design.
We’ve seen two models of Nothing so far, the first hitting the market as a mid-range device, while the second arrived with a higher price and an updated technical data sheet but certainly not an absolute top of the range one. Now we are faced with Nothing Phone 2a.
We have become aware of the existence of this smartphone recently. Nothing leaked some first details about the device, and subsequently announced that it will be present at the next Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. At the time of the announcement we said to ourselves that it would be too early to see a Nothing Phone 3but not to see a Phone 2a.
The leaked nomenclature for this model made us think that it could have been a mid-range device, lower than the current Phone 2.
A bit’ as happens with Google’s Pixels. But in the last few hours, important details have arrived on what to expect from Technical specifications:
- Display: OLED with 120Hz refresh rate
- Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 7200
- RAM: 8 GB
- Internal storage: 128GB
- Rear camera: dual camera with 50 megapixel main sensor
- Operating system: Nothing OS 2.5 with Android 14
- Customizations: Glyph controls similar to those found on Phone 2
Therefore, the technical data sheet of Phone 2a seems to outline a device very similar caliber to the Phone 2. Indeed, it seems that some new features will arrive such as a new design of the back cover and a platform update Glyph.
Then the situation becomes more enigmatic, because it seems that Nothing wants to present a model that represents a slight update compared to the Phone 2 that we already know. And if so, we might as well imagine a big leap in terms of caliber for Phone 3, expected in 2024, and which could truly correspond to a top of the range.
But we’re really pushing the envelope too far.
The presentation of this Nothing Phone 2a is scheduled for February at the Mobile World Congress. The launch price should be around 400 dollars (around 370 euros).
