Pixel 9 will have its own MagSafe

Google is now fully immersed in the smartphone market too, with its Pixels which are renewed every year in the top of the range segment and also in the mid-range segment.

Every year we’ve seen Pixel generations introduced important news, both at a hardware and software level, especially in the field of photographic experience. And also for the next one, that is for the Pixel 9will arrive an interesting innovation.

Let’s talk about wireless charginga concept it certainly is present for several years in the smartphone panorama, including Pixels. However, the new wireless charging standard called wireless charging could arrive for the Pixel 9 Qi2. This represents an important step forward because it will essentially make wireless charging compatible with the so-called Magnetic Power Profile, i.e. the connector standard corresponding to Apple’s MagSafe.

This new standard was in fact announced in a press release from Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), specifying that the Qi2 is finalizing certification tests, implying that the devices that support it they will arrive soon on the market.

The real difference, both aesthetic and functional, with the current chargers will consist in the integration of magnets.

The charging speed should correspond to a maximum output of 15W, which perhaps could go even higher considering the presence of the coils. The turning point on a practical level, however, will also consist in the possibility of using accessories third-party devices equipped with this standard for wireless charging.

The name of the new Pixel 9 was immediately made for the adoption of this standard because Liyu Yanga power systems expert who worked for Apple and now collaborates with Googlesaid that Google is very active in implementing the new Qi2 standard on future generations of Pixels.

There are no official confirmations obviously, but the fact that the new Pixel 9 will not arrive before September 2024 Leaves us hope well for a debut of the new wireless charging on these devices.
