Resistance test for OnePlus Open: it only bends the right way!
OnePlus, after several years in the smartphone sector, recently decided to dive into the foldable market. This happened at the moment in which OnePlus Open was officially launched, its first foldable which also arrived in our area.
In our full review, OnePlus Open demonstrated that it has all it takes compete on equal terms with other foldables on the market, especially with Samsung models. Now comes the endurance test of the good Zack by JerryRigEverything, a proof that was definitely positive.
OnePlus Open was abused as usual by Zack, with various tests to gauge the resistance to different types of stresses. When it comes to scratches on the display, let’s see how the external one behaves like most of the competitors, with a resistance that reaches up to level 7 of the Mohs scale. The internal display obviously struggles more, stopping between level 2 and 3.
This is a display made of plasticprecisely to allow folding and as we find on the main folding rivals of OnePlus Open.
The same aspect was observed during the test fire resistantwith the external display resisting very well, while the internal one gets stained after a few seconds of flame irreversibly.
The most interesting part, however, is the one in which the resistance of the foldable display internal: this component, together with the hinge, proves resistant to dust. Not even after a good handful of dust, even in the hinge, do you hear creaks or sinister noises during folding.
Finally, Zack tries what showed one of the weaknesses of the OnePlus 11, namely the resistance to bending. Almost unexpectedly OnePlus Open it resists very well to the bending on the unexpected side, to the point that Zack has to give up breaking it and note that after all the torture it still worked.
In short, a definitely positive test for OnePlus Open, and also important because approaches the concept of resistance to a type of smartphone that in the collective imagination it really isn’t resistant.
