Android 14 QPR2 Beta 1 arrives on Pixels: here are all the news

Google continues on the path of software development of its Android 14, after releasing the first stable one a few weeks ago. In parallel, in fact, we know that Google is testing the QPR Beta of Android 14, reserved for those who own one of its Pixel smartphones.

Let’s talk about beta because in the last few hours Google has released a important software update for those who have joined the QPR beta. It is in fact the release of the QPR2 Beta 1 of Android 14the second release of the quarterly Android updates, within which we find new software that will arrive on the stable only in a few weeks.

The update introduces several new featureslet’s go and see them together:

  • New icon to open the quick search in the Android 14 taskbar. As you can see from the screenshot below, this is the taskbar that we find in the foldable and tablet version of Android 14.

  • A new welcome screen arrives next when installing updateswhich will be accompanied by a screen that collects the information and options relating to the diagnostics and use.

  • Here comes the package name of each installed app within the section relating to the version number of the app itself, reachable from the Android Settings.

  • Material You increasingly present in Android 14. The volume slider has been slightly updated to be more consistent with Material You.

In addition to these new features, there are also some bugfixes related to issues that occurred with the previous QPR Beta:

  • Fixed an issue that caused the package manager to crash when installing some apps.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented users from submitting feedback using the Android Beta Feedback app.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented a device from connecting to a 5G network when it was available.

The update we just described corresponds to the build AP11.231020.013.A1 and has a weight of approximately 470 MB for those who have installed the previous beta.

The update is currently being distributed via OTA globally to all those who have joined the QPR beta of Android 14 (we remind you how to enter the Android beta program). Compatible devices are Pixel 5a and all subsequent models.
