Google’s Gemini App Now Available on Android Tablets

Google has finally made the Gemini AI app , its new conversational artificial intelligence , available for Android tablets and the Pixel Tablet ( HERE is our review ) . This launch marks a major expansion of the availability of Gemini, previously limited to smartphones.

As announced during the latest Made by Google event , Android tablet users can now download the Gemini app directly from the Play Store. This move makes Google’s AI accessible to a much wider audience. Although the official listing on the Play Store does not indicate compatibility with Pixel Tablet, the app works fine once installed. Additionally, for Pixel Tablet users, the Gemini integration has some interesting features.

  • User Interface : The UI is identical to the internal Pixel Fold, not particularly optimized for larger screens. However, the Gemini panel is centered for better usability.
  • Coexistence with Google Assistant : In Hub mode, when the tablet is on the Charging Speaker Dock, the voice command “Hey Google” still activates Google Assistant and not Gemini. This choice is probably due to the greater effectiveness of Assistant for smart home commands and basic functions.

Google announced that Gemini would be coming to the Pixel Tablet with the launch of Circle to Search in May. However, there are still some limitations. For example, there is no native control of Google Home home automation via extensions, and there is no access from the lock screen. These aspects could be improved in future updates.

The launch of Gemini on Android tablets and Pixel Tablets represents a significant step in Google’s AI strategy. While the integration still seems to be a work in progress, especially in terms of UI optimization and some features, this move opens up new possibilities for Android tablet users.

Speaking of Google AI, it’s been news for the last few hours that the advanced Gemini Live function is also debuting on Samsung devices in the first countries interested . In the meantime, anyone who wants to try Gemini on their tablet, or see if it is compatible, can do so from the link below.
