Nothing Phone (2a) renders and processor revealed: celebrating new features and a return
Although the official launch is on March 5today they emerged lots of news on the Nothing Phone (2nd)some official and some unofficial: some have been published render and the processor which will move the device.
The renderings are made in collaboration between Smartprix and OnLeaksa well-known leaker active on X, and they show the design of Nothing’s next smartphone (we leave you the images below). To corroborate another leaker took care of their work, Yogesh Brarwhich he published a post about X in which he shows alive image of the device in black color.
The Nothing Phone (2a) will be a smartphone that will want to prevail over the competition present in the mid range also thanks to the attention promised by the company, therefore, if you are considering buying a smartphone in this segment, we recommend you check our selection of the best smartphones divided by price ranges and updated every month.
What immediately catches the eye in the renderings is the difference of the photographic module compared to the past: in fact, if previously the two cameras were arranged to the side and vertically, now they are presented in the center and arranged horizontally, surrounded by a circular section, inside which the LED flash can be seen.
Around the island that contains the camera compartment you can see the return of the iconic glyphs, although there are only three (two semicircular on the left and one vertical on the right). Even if the transparent design of the back cover remains, the internal structure is different compared to previous models and forms a sort of “S” that starts from the photographic module and reaches the lower part of the device.
The front side remains within the norm with some very thin bezels and the central hole for the camera, which give the idea of having a higher-end smartphone in your hands that differs from the others.
Still today Nothing has officially revealed what will be the processor of the Phone (2a) and is it the MediaTek 7200 Pro. The news arrived directly on the company’s social media, which has shared on X and on YouTube a video for the announcement.
On this occasion he was interviewed Raymond ZhuNothing’s Product Marketing Manager, who revealed that the company found itself a choose between three processors: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G and the MediaTek 7200 Pro. The choice fell on the MediaTek SoC because it has better performance than the two from Qualcomm.
The MediaTek 7200 Pro is a 4nm processor produced by TSMCwhile the Snapdragon 782G is a 6 nm SoC but also produced by TSMC, while the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is indeed produced at 4 nm but by samsung, which does not have an advanced production process like that of the Taiwanese company, according to what reported by Raymond Zhu.
The Product Marketing Manager then added that Nothing had to hire some specialists who have already worked with MediaTek products to optimize the processor with the rest of the smartphone, because the engineers present have always worked with Qualcomm SoCs.
Furthermore, he revealed that there was directly a collaboration with MediaTek itself to have a specific processor for the Nothing Phone (2a), which will have better integration between software and hardware. One of these will be Smart Cleanthat is, a memory cleaning that is reminiscent of PC defragmentation and which will allow UFS memories to remain efficient over time.
