This is Xiaomi’s first car and it might have HyperOS on board!
Xiaomi is best known for its Android smartphones, both top of the range and cheaper. However, the Chinese company also produces products for other areas, to which that was recently added automotive. Xiaomi, in fact, is concentrating on the launch of the series Xiaomi SUV7. In particular, the company has requested a sales license in China for its first electric vehicle. For the occasion, the regulatory filing with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showcased the design and specifications of the first Xiaomi cars (all released via Weibo user abenzene).
Going into the details of the news, Xiaomi is working on SU7 and SU7 Max electric cars while the group BAIC based in Beijing will take care of its production. The cars look similar but with key differences, including different battery technology and a top speed of 210 km/h versus 265 km/h. Furthermore, the SU7 will weigh 1,980 kg, while the SU7 Max will weigh 2,205 kg.
As for dimensions, Xiaomi SU7 will measure 4,997 x 1,963 x 1,455 mm (1,440 mm without LiDAR sensor), with a pitch of 3,000 mm. Two engine options are planned: one will be RWD with a 220 kW engine; another will be AWD type with a 275 kW + 220 kW engine configuration. Xiaomi will also launch the SU7 Pro variant, however the specifications are not yet available.
One of the strengths of the Xiaomi car, however, is represented by the on-board software which will be a derivation of the new interface HyperOS. It is an operating system tailor-made to connect personal devices, cars and smart home products into a smart ecosystem. In this regard, however, the regulatory list does not explicitly confirm that the Xiaomi SU7 car will be equipped with HyperOS, even if all signs point in that direction.
