After OpenAI, a new chapter by Microsoft opens for Sam Altman

No return in OpenAIbut rather a new role within Microsoft: this is the destiny of Sam Altmanformer CEO of OpenAI, who will lead an artificial intelligence research laboratory together with Greg Brockman, co-founder of the above company. After a week full of news, culminating in Saltman’s dismissal and Brockman’s resignation from the position of president of OpenAI, came the statement from Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, who announced the news with a post on X.

Nadella also added that “We remain committed to our partnership with OpenAI, our ability to continue to innovate with everything we announced at Microsoft Ignite, and to continue to support our customers and partners. We look forward to meeting Emmett Shear and the new leadership team of OAI and working with them. And we are extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, along with colleagues, will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced artificial intelligence research team. We look forward to move quickly to provide them with the resources necessary for their success.”

Altman, for his part, confirmed that he will join Microsoft, adding that “the mission continues”. By the way, along with Altman there will be other former OpenAI employees, including Jakub Pachocki, director of research at OpenAI, Szymon Sidor, OpenAI researcher, e Alexander Madry, responsible for preparing OpenAI.
