Maybe you had already noticed it, or maybe (like us) you hadn’t noticed, but since November Amazon no longer sells Fire tablets in Italy. We personally contacted the company to confirm it, and so did one of our readers who reported the news to us (thanks Carmine!) with Amazon customer service. Both confirmed that it is official, and it is not a simple moment of low supplies.

Among other things, in addition to Italy, they should also be excluded from the sale France and Spain, so it is a rather large withdrawal, the causes of which Amazon gives no clues. Here is the official statement that the e-commerce giant released to us:
We have decided to pause sales of Fire tablets in Italy. Customers in Italy will still be able to access the content and features on their existing Fire tablets as they do today, and customer support channels will still be available for a number of years.

Amazon talks about a “pause”, but considering that the same move was also applied in France and Spain (in Germany and England, for example, they are still available) it seems more like a strategic retreat. In these cases it is easy to think of poor sales, after all we do not see any other particular reasons behind such a decision, nor has Amazon stated otherwise.
The important thing is that the after-sales service continues to work, but even in that case the timing is a bit vague: Amazon talks about “years”, which could be 1 or 10. If further details emerge we will definitely update another article, for now let’s say goodbye to the Fire Tablets, and who knows, maybe one day we’ll see them again with a new operating system on board.
