Google’s Files app is about to say goodbye to one of its components

Over the last few years we have seen a growing commitment of Google towards its apps for mobile devices (here’s where to find the best Android smartphones divided by price range). And among these we find the app Files.

Google’s Files app consists of a file manager (this is the guide to open RAR files if you need it) with advanced and smart features. In fact, it allows you to free up internal storage by proposing files that are no longer necessary, or those that are large. And among the many features there is also one for collect the most important files.

This feature has been launched exclusively for users Indians last year. All this resulted in moving the contents to the Important section. The app actually offers to to scan all internal storage for identify what contents can correspond to passportsa identity documents or any other important document.

The news of the last few hours is that users must prepare for say goodbye to the Important section of the Google Files app.

BigG has in fact communicated that starting from the next February 15, 2024 it will no longer be possible to access the Important section. This means that after that date the contents stored in the Important section they will no longer be available.

So Google invited users to move important content from the section in question, otherwise will be permanently deleted. This is possible by selecting the option Share after selecting all the files to move.

Google has not justified this choice but we can expect that did not detect a large diffusion among users. In any case, the novelty should not involve us, given that it is an exclusive feature for India.
