What’s new in AirPods 4: updated design and ANC support (but not only)

apple in 2024 will introduce the fourth generation of AirPods, which should benefit from a series of new features: the rumor was launched by Mark Gurman. Going into the details of the news, according to Gurman there will be two versions of the AirPods 4, with as many different prices. In this regard, Apple would have thought of this move to replace both the second and third generations, especially since there would be few differences between these two models (with the exception of the design).

The fourth generation of the earphones will feature an updated design: the final result should be a cross between the current AirPods and the Pro variant, with slightly shorter stems. In this way, they should be more comfortable to wear (it is not yet known whether the Cupertino company will provide silicone ear covers). There is also news for the case, which will be redesigned and will include speakers for the “Find My” alerts and a USB-C port. The “premium” version of the earphones will then be equipped with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).

As for launch timing, the AirPods 4 should debut in September 2024or when Apple will also reveal the new iPhones. Among other things, the company would also be planning a new version of the AirPods Max – also to be launched in 2024 – with the update expected to be limited to new colors and the implementation of the USB-C port. In the end, the Pro variant of Cupertino earphones will be updated in 2025, with the company having in mind a new design “focused on comfort” and a faster chip.
