Apple releases iOS 17.2.1 to eliminate a multitude of errors: update as soon as possible
It’s been a week since iOS 17.2 It is available for any iPhone compatible with the update.
Among the highlights, if you haven’t discovered it for yourself yet, is Journal, the app that allows you to write diary entries and receive advice based on your actions, a translation option for the Action Button of the iPhone 15 Pro, the possibility of wireless charging for certain old iPhones and goodbye to the intrusiveness of the curious Flipper Zero.
Now, as is usual in these cases, these types of updates always come with some type of bug or error and, as it could not be otherwise, apple has already released iOS 17.2.1 which “provides important bug fixes” and which you can download right now.
It is important that if you want your iPhone to run smoothly, have no security problems and performance not to be affected by a possible error, update your device as soon as possible.
Typically, you have automatic updating activated, but prevention is always better than cure. To check that you are on the latest software version available, simply go to Settings > General > Software Update.
This iOS 17.2.1 update is available from the iPhone Delete some files to make room for it.
When it comes to bugs and errors, Apple highlights that none of these updates have published CVE entries. These are Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures numbers used to catalog and publicly disclose security vulnerabilities. Each unique CVE number represents a specific flaw.
It is not clear whether the lack of a CVE number makes the bugs fixed by the update minor or If the speed with which Apple has released this update makes the bugs serious enough to be patched as soon as possible. Either way, it is recommended to install the update.
As for the rest of Apple’s operating systems, the most recent version of iPadOS is still iPadOS 17.2, while that of the Apple watch is watchOS 10.2.
What we have to do now is wait for iOS 17.3, which will presumably arrive in early 2024 and bring a ton of new features like Apple Music Collaborative Playlists, which will let friends and family add or remove songs from an Apple Music playlist, or even rearrange the order of the playlist.
The most interesting thing, however, is a function that will make stolen iPhones almost impossible to use.
