Beeper Mini down, and Apple could be behind it

During this 2023 we have seen some fresh news arrive for the messaging sector, with some third-party solutions that have proven to be innovative. Among these we certainly find Beeper.

The platform aims to unify the experience with messaging by condensing all the messaging apps we usually use into a single app. Last week, another incredible novelty arrived, namely Beeper Mini which allows you to use iMessage on Android, also avoiding accessing your Apple ID.

Beeper Mini was created using a reverse engineering of Apple’s iMessage app. Therefore, its potential is very clear, and this has been reflected in the rapid growth of installations on the Play Store. Too bad some have already arrived bad news.

The news consists in the impossibility of using Beeper Mini, with the platform indicating the inability to connect to the servers. There are many reports from Beeper Mini users regarding the inability to use iMessage on Android. Eric Migicovsky, Beeper’s number one, reported that the team is investigating what might have happened and how to fix it.

But Eric Migicovsky also added some interesting details about who could be behind it this disservice. When asked explicitly, Eric Migicovsky hinted that there might be Apple itself behind this disservice, but who will try in every way to get around it.

We underline that what has just been said is a consideration by Migicovsky, there is currently no evidence of Apple’s action behind the incident.

However, if this were to be confirmed, yes spectrum that had loomed during the launch phase for Beeper Mini would prove to be concrete, that is, that Apple could hinder Beeper Mini also for security issues. We’ll see what solution the Beeper team chooses.
