Alex Kulagin, director of operations at Flipper, wanted, during an interview with Gizmodocomment in depth on the expansion plans for Flipper Zero as well as resolve some doubts related to this viral product.
Flipper Zero, simply put, is a beast inside a small device. In its tiny casing, it contains multiple sensors and different digital protocols. This includes things like RFID and NFC, which can be used to emulate cards or scan hotel cards.

“It’s important to know that Flipper isn’t really cutting-edge technology. We package all of this technology, all of this, like the access control technologies that we use every day, into a single device. But it’s not like it can interface with most devices. super modern and cutting-edge technologies,” he comments.
“What Flipper brings is the awareness that, guys, this isn’t safe, like you really think that if something can be hacked with a $100 toy, maybe it’s too old,” he adds.

Without going any further, he gives the example of how in a really simple way he put the security of the iPhone in check. It was capable of impersonating apple‘s AirTags, but also even AirPods Pro, sending multiple notifications to the iPhone, leaving it unusable.
“It was there for a long time, it could be done on many devices, but Flipper made it more accessible. People started talking about it and Apple had to fix it, which is a good thing,” explains Kulagin.
Leaving this aside, It seems that there is Flipper Zero for a whilesince, as he comments in the interview, they will include a game controller module, further improving the capabilities of the device.
This module will allow you to connect the Flipper to a television and play using its built-in motion sensor. Additionally, the use of the Raspberry Pi chip gives the device greater flexibility and processing power, allowing the execution of applications and codes that take its use beyond its original design.
“We think it’s important to educate people about how this works and what the risks are. There are a lot of people with much more sophisticated devices. There are things sold on Amazon—Flipper has been banned from the site—that are much more capable. “We don’t see it as something that creates more risk. We believe that we are reducing the risk for many people simply by letting them know that their products have flaws,” Kulagin concludes.
