Dreaming of a lighter version of Windows 11? Tiny11 can be for you

One of the main causes that slow down the spread of Windows 11 is the fact that Microsoft has imposed some pretty stringent requirements for upgrading from Windows 10 (do you know how to customize Windows 11?).

Of course, these “barriers” can be overcome rather easily, but the common user does not venture into these practices, with the result that to date almost the 72% of Windows computers mounts the old one operating system. That’s why the project Tiny11, which proposes a version of Windows 11 lighter, it’s interesting. And after the last one update it is even more so, let’s find out why.

Tiny11 is a version of Windows 11 created by the developer NTDEV with the specific objective of allowing the installation of the Microsoft operating system even on computers with less than 4 GB of RAM and little storage space. In fact, the solution occupies just a few GB compared to the more than 20 of Windows 11, and requires much less resources.

This is because NTDEV has eliminated all the useless functions and apps, but without giving up the functionality. The latest version, released just yesterday and based on Windows 11 23H2is then even smaller (20% less), while still offering support for Copilot (which you can get by installing Edge via winget), file support RAR, the controls RGB in the app Settings and so on.

But not only. Tiny11 2311 offers a number of very important features. First of all, now even if you install it you can access the cumulative updates of Windows, something that previously would have been precluded to you.

Furthermore, you can now recover much easier characteristics which have been eliminated to reduce their footprint. For example, the Xbox functionality they have not been included, but you can get them in an instant by installing a platform game, as you can add .net 3.5 or new languages.

We were talking about the dimensions. If the previous version of Tiny11 was already quite small, with 4.2 GB, now Tiny11, which also changed the system name versions for greater understanding (2311), it barely occupies 3.5GBand is perfectly usable.

Of course, if you were to install it you must always keep in mind that it is a version unofficial of Windows 11, and that it may have problems instability which could potentially cause the data loss or even to brick of your computer.

Overall, Tiny11 is an interesting tool to install Windows 11 on devices on which the operating system would otherwise run very hard difficulty or not at all, and you can find the ISO image at this address.

As we anticipated, the installation of Tiny11 could potentially cause problems for your PC, so always make a backup and do not use it on your main work machine. If you are interested, here on GitHub you can find the tiny11builder, a script that allows you to automate compiling a simplified Windows 11 image similar to tiny11, practically eliminating all the frills.
