Finally DuckDuckGo will allow password synchronization

The browser DuckDuckGo has received a new feature known as “Sync and backup”. This is an option that allows you to keep passwords, bookmarks and favorites on all your devices without the need to create an account. Among other things, in line with its long-standing goal, the browser will not collect user data since it is encrypted end-to-end.

In particular, DuckDuckGo highlights that data should sync “on most Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone devices”, including what was imported from browsers like Chrome. To start syncing you will need to scan a QR code if you are using a mobile device or entering an alphanumeric code if you are using a computer. According to DuckDuckGo, you will also be able to set up backup and sync on a single device.

So, a good step forward for DuckDuckGo, however something is still missing. In fact, the browser, at least for the moment, does not support passkeys. In this sense, given the ever-increasing diffusion of passkeys, the company will have to work if the objective is to challenge titans such as Google, Microsoft and apple.
