The Hyperloop fairy tale ends: is the future still far away?

The project Hyperloop made it to the closing credits. The startup, whose dream was to transport people inside low pressure pipes (so as to reduce air friction) to same speed as an airplaneannounced the closure of all its activities.

In fact, as reported by Bloomberg, the company is laying off staffclosing the last offices and selling the assets still remained in his possession, such as the test track and the machinery: it was communicated to the employees who are dealing with the latest practices that their assignment will end December 31, 2023.

Nobody within the company wanted comment officially this decision let alone DP World, the Dubai-based company that holds the intellectual property of the project.

Hyperloop always has attracted attention of many, because it proposed an innovative idea and presented itself as one Revolution in the world of transport: in fact, it has seen alternations numerous investorswho believed in the company’s vision by contributing hundreds of millions of dollars.

On one side there were the supporterswho they believed this technology would be available starting from 2020but on the other hand there were also many criticswho were convinced that it was autopiagiven the various technical and logistical difficulties.

At the moment we don’t know if in the near future it will be possible to see the Hyperloop project at work or if decades will pass or if we will never see it, but for now it will remain a unfulfilled dream.
