Google launches a new ”Weather application” on the Play Store

The latest Pixel Feature Drop released by Google turned out to be seriously full of new features: from the revolutionary implementation of Gemini Nano on the Pixel 8 Pro, to slightly more peripheral updates. Among these we find the publication of a ”new app” on the Play Store Weather forecast” which allows you to show forecasts meteorological in the Clock application.

Although it seems like a new application, it is not to be confused with the classic weather forecast of Google (which recently underwent a restyling) reachable via the At a Glance widget of Pixels. Instead, it is a separate service that resides within the Google app itself and, as anticipated, provides weather forecasts within the Clock application.

After installing from the Play Store, a popup will appear when you open the Clock app to add local weather. Once you provide the necessary permissions, you will see the weather forecast for your current location as well as any other places you add to the page.

After this update the weather forecasts will be availableoptionally, even in alarm clocks. After ”turning off” the alarm, a screen will appear with the current weather as well as the maximum and minimum temperatures for the day. To close the tab, simply click on the button below ”OK thank you”. Finally, unfortunately, click on the weather icon in the Clock app or in the appropriate widget, it will not take you back to the weather page by Google.

This update, being intended as part of the Google Watch, It’s currently only available on supported Pixel phones. You can go directly to the app’s Play Store page right from here.
