The 2023 it was an important year for foldable smartphones especially because we saw completely new models, such as Pixel Fold from Google, equipped with the processor Tensor G2. In this sense, some rumors have recently leaked out about the second generation of the leaflet signed by the Mountain View giant.

In particular, Pixel Fold 2 would have been tested internally in the last two months and it would appear that it has even been equipped with the Tensor G4 (code name zumapro) and not with Tensor G3 (as happened in previous tests). So, if Google decides to change its direction on the chip, it is likely that it could also change the release date of the device. In this sense, it has been said that the Pixel Fold 2 is at the beginning of the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) phase, so it is quite unlikely that it will debut in time for launch at I/O 2024 expected in the month of May.

In any case, the new Tensor G4 processor should feature a mix of Arm’s Cortex-X4, A720, and A520 CPU cores. It is also rumored that the chipset is manufactured by samsung and not from TSMCeven if Google is thinking of switching to TSMC for the creation of the Tensor G5.

Furthermore, according to rumors, Pixel Fold 2 could have 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. In this regard, the increase in the amount of RAM compared to the first model would make sense since the company is thinking of implementing more artificial intelligence features on the device. Finally, the UFS 4.0 internal memory should reduce the time needed to load files: all this would be an advantage for many activities, starting with loading apps and games.
