Google rides the AI wave: exclusive assistant for Pixels and, listen, listen, we’re also talking about glasses!

Google she will have been taken by surprise by the tsunami AIbut after the hesitations of early 2023 she quickly got back on track, first introducing Bard, then the Assistant with Bard and finally the revolutionary Gemini modelwhich will be integrated right into chatbots of the company (by the way, take a look at our selection of apps for using AI).

Now, however, the Mountain View company has decided to take the next step, and according to two reports from The Information it is working not only on a AI assistant exclusive for i Pixels, appropriately named “Pixie”, but she would be so sure of her own means as to resume a famous project that failed in her crowded cemetery: the smart glasses!

Let’s start with the assistant. According to the site, Pixie will be an AI assistant powered by Gemini, which could evolve into a version “much more personalized than Google Assistant“. The service will use Gmail, Maps and other “Google product data“on the phone and it will take place”complex tasks e multimodal”.

Among the proposed examples, there is the possibility of take a picture to a product and get directions from the assistant on shop nearest where to buy it.

So Pixie could be the next version of Assistant with Bard, but there is an interesting aspect. While Assistant with Bard (AWB) is coming to other phones as well (it’s been seen on Samsungs and Google has said it’s coming to iOS as well), Pixie will be exclusive to Pixels.

According to The Informationthe assistant will in fact debut with the series Pixel 9 (a bit like the new Pixel 4 Assistant), and even if there is no indication whether it will arrive on the previous deviceswe know, that Google wants to bring these features to artificial intelligenceto his phones and low-end devices like his watch“.

BUT this is not the only news. The site also revealed a sensational preview, namely that GrandeG would be working on a pair of glasses able to recognize them thanks to AI objects that a user is looking at.

That’s right, you read that right. After the disaster of Google Glass and the announcement that Google AR would have collaborated with samsung for a wearable device from the Korean giant, internally we would be discussing a new wearable capable of recommending “such as using an object, solving a math problem, or playing a musical instrument“.

These new “Google Glass” (we’re afraid to name them, so let’s just call them Google glasses) will therefore be equipped with camera, while for the output they could use the voice or one screen. At the moment, however, we don’t know if these glasses are already in the development phase, so anything is still possible. Of course, already the fact that you have it in Mountain View the courage to talk about eyeglasses It says a lot about the company’s AI ambitions.
