Google says it has fixed the loss of Google Drive files, users say it is a lie

The mess continues with lost files from Google Drive, which Google still does not recognize. Has published two solutions based on a synchronization failurebut many users claim that it does not work because their files are lost, not poorly synchronized.

Companies want us to migrate all our data to the cloud, because it is the way to have us as eternal customers tied to their products. Doubts arise when the cloud has problems, such as a loss of files, and then you discover that you are not in control of your own data, and those responsible are not able to tell you where it is.

Since last November, Google Drive users claim that files and documents have disappeared from their computers, and from the cloud itself. These losses date back to May 2023.

Google’s solution to losing Drive files

Google has recognized the problem… half-heartedly. He has detected a cloud sync issue for the Google Drive desktop app, and offers two solutions that are based on locating the files hidden in the cache, to recover them. You can see them here.

The first is to download the latest version of the Google Drive Windows desktop app. We must press the Shift key on the keyboard and, at the same time, click on Settings with the mouse. The secret option “Recover from backups” will appear to recover files that we have lost.

The other solution is more complex. It is based on starting the Google Drive app from the Command Prompt, with a special command line: -recover_from_account_backups.

The problem with these solutions is that they rely on the cache and backups made from the desktop app. But Many users claim that they have only used Google Drive from the web browser, they have never installed this app.

According to account Ars Technicaother users claim that their files are lost, not poorly synchronized, so this method does not work for them, because they are not in their cache, nor in the cloud backups.

Google offers two solutions to the Google Drive file loss problem, but it doesn’t work for many users. The soap opera continues.
