Google Weather wants independence

For some time we have seen Google pay particular attention to software products for Android devices, especially when it comes to its own Pixels. The weather is one of the aspects that have been updated recently.

Google indeed has profoundly renewed the graphical interface for its Weather, the one accessible directly from At a Glance widget from Pixels. And now comes further news for the Pixels.

The novelty consists in new dedicated icon which earned Google Weather. The new icon now appears in the app drawer on Pixel Launcher, the official Google launcher that has always animated Pixels. You can have an example by looking at the images in the gallery.

In this sense, it is worth underlining that currently Google Weather it’s not actually a standalone app, given that its operation essentially depends on the Google app. The weather icon in the launcher drawer appears with the indication of a sunny and partially overcast from a cloud.

And we find the same icon if we add the shortcut to the home screen for Weather.

The only difference between the two icons is that the shortcut icon has the small icon related to the Google appwhich precisely underlines the dependence of Google Weather on its app of the same name.

Google’s move could clearly be understood as one proof of independence for Google Weather, which could bring finally to a dedicated and independent app for the service that allows you to have information on the weather and its forecasts. Currently the novelty seems to be available for a small number of users who have a Pixel, for example it hasn’t arrived in our area yet.
