WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging applications that makes it easy for you to stay in touch with your friends and family, which is why it takes your security seriously.
Although the platform already includes several functions to keep your account, your personal data and your privacy in general safe, it has now incorporated a new option that makes the service even more secure.
Imagine that you want to use WhatsApp, and it turns out that the SMS verification code does not reach your mobile or, even worse, you do not have coverage at that time. This is where the new tool comes in that can get you out of trouble, it is the WhatsApp email verification.
This method is an alternative that will not only help you improve the security of your account, but also offers another way to prove that you are the legitimate owner of the associated phone number.
However, the feature is only available to iOS users in the latest version of the app (2.23.24.70), and it is currently unknown when it will reach Android devices.
What is WhatsApp email verification and why you should activate it
A new way to increase the protection of your WhatsApp account is to activate email verification, which allows you to receive a code in your email inbox when you sign in on another device.
This way, if you cannot receive the code via SMS for any reason, you can use this method to verify your identity. Basically, it is an additional measure that makes it difficult for someone to access your account without your authorization. In addition, it is very easy to activate.
This is how you can configure your email to verify your WhatsApp account
- Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and go to Setting.
- Click on Account.
- At this point you must search and select the option Email address.
- Add your email and click Following.
- The application will send the six-digit code to your email.
- Hit the link to verify your email address and you’re done.
The email verification on WhatsApp is a new feature that allows you to confirm your identity in the app. Of course, it is not intended to replace existing methods, but rather to be an alternative in any eventuality.
At the moment, it is only available in the beta version of the app on iPhone, and will soon reach Android phones, but there is no definitive date for when it will happen.
