Humane’s AI Pin failed 2 responses in its presentation announcement and they are working on fixing it

On November 10, Humane finally officially presented the AI Pin. A device that has the clear intention of becoming an alternative to the smartphone that you clip on your clothes and that has, as its main point of interest, a powerful AI inside.

Everything seemed to be going perfectly during the presentation and the announcement video showed the endless abilities of the device, which seems capable of anything. However, the AI made a mistake and gave incorrect information at 2 different times during its spectacular launch trailer.

To be exact, the AI gave incorrect information about the best place to view an upcoming solar eclipse and how much protein is in a handful of almonds. Here you can see the video.

At 3 minutes and 40 seconds into the video, recorded from Humane’s headquarters in San Francisco, co-founder Imran Chaudhri asks the device where the best place is to view the next solar eclipse. The device responds by saying that the next solar eclipse will be in April 2024 and that the best place to see it would be Australia.

However, the April 2024 eclipse will be visible in parts of North America, but not in Australia.

As for the second error, at 6 minutes and 10 seconds into the video, Chaudhri asks the AI Pin how much protein is in a handful of almonds, to which it responds that almonds have 15 grams of protein.

But one X user, @TheCreatorNate, pointed out that you’d have to eat 60 almonds to get 15 grams of protein, which is quite a bit more than a handful.

The response from Humane has not been long in coming.

Sam Sheffer, Humane’s director of new media, addressed these errors on the company’s Discord server.

Sheffer said a bug had caused the Pin AI to give the location for viewing an earlier eclipse, rather than one that will occur in 2024. As for the almonds, Sheffer said the Pin AI had told how much protein was in a half cup of almonds, not the number of almonds that Chaudhri had in his hand.

Additionally, they explain that the promotional video for the Ai Pin, which was posted on X on Thursday, was still using pre-release software, and that the incorrect information was not a reflection of how the device would perform once it goes on sale in 2024. .

Sheffer also said that the problems that occurred in the promotional video have been fixed and that an updated video would be posted soon on Humane’s website. But it is not known exactly when the video will be republished.

Of course, Sheffer assures that they will address these problems and they will be resolved between now and the launch date of the AI Pin.

The Humane AI Pin is a small, standalone gadget that can be clipped to your shirt, pocket or bag. It does not have a screen, like a smartphone.

Instead, the device has a camera, microphone and speaker, and a tiny laser projector to display information in the user’s hand. The device, focused on artificial intelligence, can take photos or videos, play music, make phone calls or answer questions.
