macOS Sonoma 14.2 arrives: automatic filling on PDFs, news for Messages and new widgets

This is an evening full of news in terms of software for Apple users. After the update for watchOS, the Cupertino company also releases a new update for macOS Sonoma, the latest generation of its operating system for Apple Macs and MacBooks.

The update refers to macOS Sonoma 14.2. This is an update intended for version stable of the operating system, and that includes several interesting new features.

  • Here comes advanced autofill that identifies fields in PDFs and other forms to automatically fill based on your contact.

Messages

  • New option to easily jump to the first unread message in a conversation by clicking the arrow visible in the top right corner.
  • Here comes the new option to quickly add stickers in conversations.
  • New identity key verification option to prevent potentially dangerous security situations.

Weather forecast

  • New data relating to the amount of precipitation expected.
  • New widgets that let you choose from next-hour precipitation, daily forecasts, sunrise and sunset times, and current conditions like air quality and wind speed.
  • New animated map for wind conditions.

Clock

  • Option to run and customize multiple timers at once.
  • New options to preset timers.
  • Made it easier to restart recently used timers.

Other features introduced

  • The song playlist in Apple Music lets you quickly return to songs you’ve marked as favorites.
  • Using listening history in Apple Music can be disabled in Focus.
  • Shazam support arrives even when wearing AirPods.
  • New layouts for the system keyboard.
