samsung has decided to start 2024 in style and brings good news for its users by incorporating its folding phones, among others, into the self-repair program.
This initiative, launched last summer, originally included smartphones and devices in general such as the S20, S21 and Tab S7, and in early 2023, it expanded to cover the S22 line and some Galaxy Pro books. Now announces the inclusion of celebrities Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 in this self-repair program, although they have also included the new Galaxy S23.
In collaboration with iFixit, this program allows Galaxy device users to take control of repairs, giving them access to authentic parts and the tools necessary to solve all kinds of problems such as damage to the screen, back glass, charging ports, speakers and other key components.
“Samsung has compiled support materials that will provide information about what a self-repair entails, the potential pitfalls, how to perform the repair, and what alternative options are available in case you decide that self-repair is not for you,” the company says.

Although prices to repair foldable devices have not yet been posted on the iFixit platform, experience with other models suggests that self-repair may not be a very economical option. For example, the repair kit for the internal screen of the google pixel Fold reaches $900.
The full list of devices that are now part of this self-repair program includes mobile and tablet models, as well as some of the company’s laptops. In addition, it should be noted that Samsung also offers self-repair kits in European countries such as Denmark, Greece, Hungary and Portugal.
