Netflix is betting on One Piece like no one ever: a huge anime project is in production
The One Piece live action released by Netflix a few months ago was a planetary successwhich (re)brought back the manga of Eiichirō Oda to worldwide attention, so much so that the streaming service decided to go all-in. Let’s talk about a new anime adaptation of the mangawhich will be called “The One Piece” and will recreate the whole story seen so far, starting from the beginningfrom theEast Bluefrom that Romance Dawn where it all started.
The series will be produced by WIT Studiowho has already worked on successful anime such as SPY x FAMILY And The attack of the Giants, and will see the master Eiichirō Oda directly involved. At the moment there isn’t one yet exit dateand the page itself indicated by Netflix is unreachable, but the series is already in the works, so we hope that in 2024 we could see the first fruits.
To understand why this is a thing Without precedents it is good to underline, for those who don’t know, that the One Piece manga is still ongoing, after a long time 26 years since the beginning of the work, and although we are now in what should be the final saga, it will still take a few years before its actual conclusion.
In the meantime, an anime has already been produced (as well as various animated films and more), which has been on the air for 25 years now (obviously with many breaks and fillers in the middle), and which received a great success in the meantime.
Netflix’s operation therefore has some merit mammoth: redo from scratch a very long anime, based on a manga still in progress, when moreover there already existed a very popular animated transposition. Will Netflix therefore be able to attract viewers’ attention to something that they already know and that is also already been animated? It depends, of course. In fact, it must be said that the original One Piece anime is currently unobtainable in the full version, unless you subscribe to Crunchyroll, where however it is only available in the original language (with sub ita), so those who want to enjoy the anime in its entirety will have a new possibility thanks to Netflix.
