Here is Tesla’s new humanoid robot: it trains, dances and… then?

Tesla is a multifaceted company. We know it for its electric cars, which have also been exploring advanced autonomous driving for some time, but we know that it is also active in other contexts.

One of the most innovative ones concerns the development of the humanoid robot. The project, born as Tesla Bot, obviously relies heavily on the artificial intelligence developed by the company also for the automotive context. And the goal is basically to make as humane as possible something that by definition is not, that is, a programmed machine.

Let’s talk about it again because in the last few hours Tesla has presented the new generation of humanoid robot. Is called Tesla Optimus Gen 2 and was shown in action in a video shared on X. From the images we see how fluid the movements of Tesla’s robot are, capable of walk completely independently in the garage populated by Cybertrucks and other Teslas.

From the point of view of the actions capable of doing, let’s also see how the robot is 30% faster compared to the previous generation (presented last March).

Walking has been made much more similar to human walking, also in terms of the shape of the joints by means of actuators and force sensors. The total mass was reduced by 10 kg.

All this makes Optimus Gen 2 capable of performing complex operationsas handle eggs and position them in balance without breaking them, carry out some squats in the gym without losing your balance. The hands have 11 new degrees of freedom, just as the neck has two new degrees of freedom. This means the robot can execute more complex movements and expressions compared to its predecessor, and will therefore be able to mimic human behavior more faithfully.

At the end of the video we also see how Optimus Gen 2 is also capable of dance together with his twin, exactly like we would do (or maybe not?). All we have to do is ask ourselves, as Tesla does, what he will be able to do his robot in the near future.

We don’t rule out seeing him get into the car and leave the garage.

In addition to what is shown in the video, some issues also emerge considerations regarding what we just saw. Tesla’s results are impressiveespecially because in a relatively short time managed to create a humanoid robot that is particularly skilled and faithful to human behavior. It is certainly not the only one, given that companies that have been operating in the sector for decades, such as Boston Dynamics, have created humanoid robots even more incredibly faithful to the human being.
