OpenAI is postponing a feature it had already promised until next year

The launch of the GPT store of OpenAI will be postponed to next year: the decision was made official by the company itself which, via an email, informed all users who signed up to its GPT Builder. In particular, OpenAI stated that “unexpected things kept us busy” and this, therefore, delayed the launch of the GPT store. Originally, the store was supposed to arrive at December.

After all, the past few weeks have been really busy for OpenAI, which had to deal with the departure of CEO Sam Altman, the revolt of hundreds of employees, the welcome of a new CEO as well as the return of Altman himself: in short, a real storm that would have put the company to the test. In any case, activities have not stopped completely. In this regard, again in the email, OpenAI highlighted that users should expect some updates for ChatGPT. In particular, the development team announced that it has improved some features of the custom GPT platform.

As for the store, it will consist of a marketplace where users of OpenAI’s GPT builders they will be able to sell and share the GPTs they have created. For those who don’t know, custom GPTs consist of “customized versions of ChatGPT that combine instruction, extra knowledge, and any combination of skills” for specific use cases.
