Segway-Ninebot has decided to enter thehome energy storageand with the series of portable feeding stations Segway Cube. For the moment the range is made up of two models, the Segway Cube-1000 with a capacity of 1 kWh and the Segway Cube-2000 with a capacity of 2 kWh, however in the coming months an independent expandable battery – Segway Cube-BTX-1000 – and two solar panels, Segway Solar Panel SP100 (100W) and Segway Solar Panel SP200 (200W) will be added.
Going into details, the Segway Cube line is characterized by a stacked modular battery design, which allows you to add up to five battery modules (sold separately), each providing 1kWh of energy storage. The two devices also boast a power output of 2200W AC and are able to intelligently regulate the power of connected electrical appliances to avoid overloading, supporting devices with a power consumption of up to 4400W, compared to an average daily electricity use by families of around 3000W.
The Segway Cube series uses AM60B magnesium alloy as the skeleton and adopts stable automotive-grade lithium iron phosphate power cells, UL certified, combined with 10 BMS functions. From a waterproofing point of view, the IPX3 certification guarantees the possibility of protecting against splashes of water. The protection degree of the single battery pack reaches IP56. Among other things, Cube 1000 and Cube 2000 are equipped with an 800W DC MPPT charging port to support in-car or solar charging. Combined with 1250W AC fast charging, the Cube 1000 and Cube 2000 can be fully charged in just 1.2 hours and 1.8 hours respectively.
Prices and availability
The Segway Cube series is available for pre-order on the official online store Segway.com (also in Italy) with a free solar panel (exclusively on the online store and limited to a fixed number of first pre-orders) with the following retail prices:
– Cube 1000: €1,099
– Cube 2000: €1,799
The products are distributed in Italy by Activate and will be available at select Segway-Ninebot retailers, in-store and online, starting in early December.
