Steam has decided to no longer support older versions of macOS

Apple no longer sends version updates Mohave of its operating system for a couple of years. However, this has not stopped Steam from continuing to support macOS Mohave all these years, thus offering users access to many games. Now, however, things are about to change: the company, in fact, has decided to cease support for Mohave (10.14) and High Sierra (10.13) starting February 15, 2024.

Specifically, this news doesn’t mean that Steam will stop working on Macs equipped with these versions of the operating system, however users will be deprived of important functionality enjoyed by those using fully supported versions of macOS. For example, Steam will not provide any technical assistance or distribute security updates. Furthermore, Steam added that when these users update their Macs to a newer version, all 32-bit executable games will immediately stop working.

In any case, according to Steam this news will not impact Apple users too much.

In fact, over 98% of its customers already use macOS Catilina or later, so the number of people interested should be really low. Finally, if the latter want to continue to use Steam fully, they will necessarily have to update the operating system so as to play without any problems.
