Stellantis and Ample together to recharge a battery in less than five minutes

Stellantis And Ample have signed an agreement for a partnership on electric vehicle (EV) battery charging technology provide a fully charged battery in less than five minutes. The two companies, in fact, have reached an agreement for the integration of Ample’s Modular Battery Swapping solution into Stellantis’ electric vehicles.

Additionally, the two companies are considering expanding the application of this Ample modular battery swapping technology to meet Stellantis fleet and consumer demand across other platforms and geographies. Getting to the heart of the news, the launch of the pilot program is scheduled for 2024 in Spain, in Madrid, on a fleet of 100 Fiat 500e as part of the car sharing service Free2move of Stellantis.

Ample’s battery swapping stations enable installation in public areas in just three days, ensuring an infrastructure that can scale quickly and meet driver demand.

In particular, when an electric vehicle equipped with Ample technology approaches a station, it is immediately recognized by the station itself. Subsequently, the driver initiates the battery change from the application, obtaining a fully charged battery in less than five minutes.

Finally, for those who don’t know, Ample’s modular batteries they can be inserted into any electric vehicle and would allow Stellantis to integrate this technology without having to redesign vehicle platforms.
