The next version of Windows will be characterized by AI: here are some new features designed by Microsoft

The latest rumors regarding Windows are important. In particular, second Windows Centralthe next version of Microsoft’s operating system, known by the code name Hudson Valley, will focus heavily on artificial intelligence. Going into the details of the news, Hudson Valley would refer to the client part of the operating system, i.e. the interface, the applications and more generally everything with which the user will interact. The platform, however, should be called Germanium.

Goodbye to “Moment Updates”

The reasoning above is necessary to understand the first innovation that Microsoft would apply. The company, until now, has updated both the platform and the client at the same time, but things could change in the future. In fact, Germanium would be released for some PCs next spring, unlike Hudson Valley, which would debut directly in the fall. All this would be “caused” by the Snapdragon X Elite processors signed by Qualcomm, which will be compatible with Germanium.

Furthermore, following the farewell to Panos Panay, Windows managers they would have decided to say goodbye to the “Moment Update”or the various updates that Microsoft operating systems benefit from during the year.

In the future, the company could return to a single feature update each year. Among other things, it seems that the company is not totally convinced of naming Hudson Valley as Windows 12.

Beyond these details, however, the next operating system will feature a massive presence of AI. In this sense, there will be a new shell with a Copilot advanced always-on, which should guarantee better search and multitasking performance as well as a more efficient understanding of user requests. New features will also arrive for the chronology/timeline. In this regard, users will be able to review the apps and sites visited in the past, with AI allowing them to filter the results.

It should also debut Super Resolution, that is, the upsampling technology, already seen with NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. Important improvements will also arrive for the function Live Captions and for the AI ​​Wallpaper Generator. Finally, there will be a hub to start projects in the apps included in Microsoft 365: this is it of the “creator” area in File Explorer and Start.

Finally, Microsoft is working on energy management: in some cases the autonomy could improve by 50%. Among other things, there will be the possibility of preferring to recharge the device when energy from renewable sources is present in the network.

Changes to the user interface

Microsoft would also be working on the user interface, which could benefit from some significant changes. In this sense, the major news should be of interest some elements of the Taskbar and System Tray, which will be transferred to a toolbar at the top. In any case, these changes could debut after the launch of Hudson Valley.
