TicWatch Pro 3 and E3 receive Wear OS 3: better late than never

The TicWatch smartwatches are the devices from the Mobvoi company that have aroused particular interest among users since their debut, also due to the choice to rely on Wear OS in terms of the operating system.

And when in 2021 Google announced Wear OS 3, what at the time was the brand new generation of Wear OS, which should have been a clear watershed compared to the past, all those who had a TicWatch they smiled. The hope was obviously that the major update would arrive quickly.

Instead things they went differently, quite clearly. Just think that only now, after more than two yearsmost TicWatch smartwatches are compatible with Wear OS 3 they are receiving the update. Mobvoi would have communicated the rollout to Android Authority, so the news is practically confirmed officially.

THE devices that are receiving Wear OS 3 are TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS, TicWatch Pro 3 GPS, TicWatch E3, TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra and TicWatch Pro 3 LTE.

Mobvoi did not particularly detail the changelog, mentioning a large update of the user interfaceapps and services improved in terms of stability and fluidity, and patches safety updated. Too bad that in the meantime Wear OS 4 has been a reality for some time on some of the smartwatches on the market.

The company reported that providing the Wear OS 3 update for its devices has been much more complicated than expected. Although the models in question had a Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, which is the hardware requirement to receive the major Wear OS update, the update required a complete renovation software.

In short, we would say “better late than never“. The update would be in the process of being distributed via OTA globally. If you have one of the TicWatches mentioned, expect to receive it soon.
