Last May, WhatsApp introduced the padlock function, which allows you to remove certain conversations from the app’s main list and then insert them into a hidden space, which can be accessed by swiping from top to bottom on the general screen ( you will then have to enter a password to actually read the contents of these chats). This approach has though a problem: if someone picks up your phone they can immediately check if there are any hidden chatsdespite not being able to read its contents, and here the new comes into play secret code. The new secret code it is nothing more than (another) password, different perhaps from the one used to unlock the phone or to access the padlock, which protects all “locked” chats, and which allows you to hide the “Chats with padlock” folder from chat list, so you can just view it by typing said password in the search bar.
This way no one who has access to your phone will be able to know if there are any padlocked conversations, which this time there will be truly hidden.
In fact, it seems that the WhatsApp community really appreciated the padlock, but it wasn’t exactly what it needed to completely hide certain conversations, but we won’t be here to judge.
