We have been hearing about the now legendary one for some time AppleCarbut apparently it will be Xiaomi the first tech company to create an (electric) vehicle at home (do you know how long it takes to charge an electric car?).

We’re talking about Xiaomi Carprovisionally called SU7, and which has not only been officially confirmed, but will even be revealed in two days, on December 28th!

The head of Xiaomi announced itLei Jun, who revealed his cards with a post on X, without hiding ambitions pretty stellar. In the post, in fact, the Chinese manager declared that if the cars have been in circulation for 130 yearsfor the first 100 they were just means of transport, then Tesla introduced the electric cars “smart”, computers on wheels. Now it’s time for smart mobile spacesand this is where Xiaomi comes in.

There Xiaomi Car has already appeared in some leaks (from which the rendering that we show you in this article), and we know that if the current vehicle is internally called SU7, a SU7 Maxpresumably with updated specs.

Jun said he was personally involved in the development of Xiaomi Car, explaining that his goal was “build a great car“. The CEO from Xiaomi said he wanted to drive 100 cars before starting to consider the prototypes of the car, as he wanted to make sure he was able to take inspiration from the “strengths” of each of them. Mission accomplished, apparently, because the manager declared he had “Driven over 150 cars“.

Although the car will be announced at international level, it is difficult for the Xiaomi Car to leave the Chinese borders, at least initially, also because there have been no signs of tests and approvals in the European or US markets. Nonetheless, after the incredible delays of AppleCarwhich apparently could be launched by 2026 (barring further delays), Xiaomi’s feat is remarkable.

According to previews, the Xiaomi Car, which in some ways resembles the Nio ET7, measures 4,997 millimeters in length, 1,963 millimeters in width and 1,455 millimeters in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 millimetres.

The weight is 1,980 kilogramscertainly not a feather, while the wheels are 19 or 20 inches with 245/45 R19 and 245/40/R20 tires, respectively.

Apparently, there will be two versionsa rear-wheel drive, powered by a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle from 299 HP and one with two electric motors for a traction configuration whole wheat, with a total power of 673 HP.

There will also be two batteries available. BYD will provide the drive for the least expensive version, while CATLE will provide one more unit great for the top of the range version.

Xiaomi indicates only one value for the full speed of both variants, 210 km/hwhich is apparently electronically limited.

From some photos we can also appreciate the LiDAR sensor mounted behind the windshield (probably as an option or for the all-wheel drive version), which indicates a certain autonomous driving capability, while as regards the software it seems that the car will mount a version of HyperOS of Xiaomi and will feature a perfect integration of telephone and car.

The announcement will be made on December 28th to 7am Italian time (2pm Beijing time), so maybe it’s worth waking up early!
