Android 14 has now arrived in a stable form for a few months. Its debut took place, as usual, first on Google’s Pixels and recently also on Samsung’s Galaxy.

But we have started to get to know Android 14 from a few months earlier, when Google started the beta program accessible to all. Among the many innovations introduced with the new generation of Android, Google also took something away. Today we’re talking about exactly this.

Some users noticed it immediately and asked Google whether the removal of the functionality was a temporary problem, and whether its future reintroduction was among the plans. However, Google has confirmed that the removal was voluntary and that the function he won’t come back.

No particular reasons were given for the removal of the quick access functionality to notifications via gesture on app icons, but we imagine that Google was based on statistics of use to decide his fate.

So, we can expect that functionality he won’t come back with the next Android updates, but obviously the possibility of accessing the quick functions associated with each app by long-pressing their icon.
