To get the blue check on Tinder, just a Video Selfie will not be enough

Tinder is one of the most famous dating apps in the world, where it is possible meet your soul mate or just have a casual date. Obviously, despite the noble intent of the founders in introducing people online, there are those who make fraudulent use of it by creating fake profiles.

For this reason we remind you to consult our guide to recognizing fake profiles on Tinder, so as not to fall into the traps of bad guys.

To discourage this practice, Tinder has created a procedure to verify the identity of those who register on the app in order to obtain the blue tickwhich certifies theauthenticity of the individual. But if at the beginning a simple photo was enough and the Video Selfie was introduced a year ago, soon all this will happen it will no longer be enough.

In fact, Tinder is planning to introduce a further step to verify the authenticity of an account: during the process Tinder will ask you to upload a photo of your driving license or passport/identity cardso you can compare the photo on the document with the profile images and the selfie video.

Additionally, Tinder will monitor the date of birth present on the document to verify the age reported on the app. However, this it is not a mandatory check: you can also just verify your identity with the selfie video, but you will get theblue camera icon instead of the blue check to demonstrate the level of verification carried out. Therefore, to get the blue tick you will need to carry out all the verification steps (from the photo to the document check).

This certification system was tested in Australia and New Zealand during 2023, but Tinder wants to replicate it in the coming months also in other countries, such as the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Brazil, so it is plausible to think that in in the not too distant future it will also arrive in Italy.
